Gestational Diabetes
During my first pregnancy with my son in 2007-2008, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I was able to control my sugar level by eating right and taking glyburide to control my diabetes. I had the normal worries that most new moms have who haven’t had prior children. How big will my child get? Will I need to have a C – section or will I be able to deliver vaginally? The biggest fear I had was having to have a C section, and this is what motivated me to eat healthy, exercise and watch my sugars while pregnant with my first child. I delivered my son a month early to the day with 27 hours of labor. Good news is I didn’t have to have a C- section. My son was only 7 pounds which I was warned that many diabetic mothers have 10 pound plus sized babies.
